Dave Coulier Reveals a Rare Glimpse at Custom Michigan Home as He Shares Stark Health Update Amid Cancer Battle

"Full House" star Dave Coulier has given fans a rare update on his health as he continues to battle cancer at his custom-built Michigan sanctuary.

The 66-year-old actor, who has battled two different cancers since the end of 2024, took to Instagram this week to address concerns about his appearance and his health, confessing that the treatments have taken a toll on his body, including significant weight loss.

Coulier first revealed in November 2024 that he had been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but five months later, he was declared cancer-free.

Then, in December 2025, the actor announced that he had also been diagnosed with p16 squamous carcinoma, a form of head and neck cancer that is located at the base of his tongue.

Though he assured fans in February of this year that he was in remission, some have since raised concerns about changes to his demeanor and appearance—worries that he has now addressed in his new clip, while conceding that it had been some time since he has shared an update.

"The last time I did some of you said that I look differently, and I sound differently, and I do," he said, while walking around the yard outside of his home.

Coulier went on to address his changing appearance, revealing that he has lost a staggering 45 pounds as a result of his inability to eat any real food.

"What you're seeing is the side effects of extensive radiation that I went through for carcinoma in my throat. I haven't been able to eat solid food in months. So I've lost 45 pounds, that's what you're seeing."

He added that his condition has impacted how he speaks, adding that he knows fans have been pointing out his voice has changed.

"So you're right on with what you're seeing and what you're hearing," he said, while noting that his hair is "kind of growing back" in the wake of his treatments.

The actor also shared some positive news about his condition, reassuring fans that treatment for both of his cancers appears to be working.

"The prognosis looks good for both the carcinoma in my throat and the lymphoma. So we're very pleased with all of that," he explained, before signing off by saying: "I hope good comes to you all."

Coulier revealed that he had been diagnosed with a second type of the disease during a phone interview with the "Today" show at the end of last year, explaining that he learned he had HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer in October 2025, seven months after he was told he had beaten his Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

"To go through chemotherapy and feel that relief of whoah, it’s gone, and then to get a test that says, well now you’ve got another kind of cancer ... it is a shock to the system," the actor, who was born and raised in St. Clair, MI, admitted.

Although Coulier experienced some symptoms in the lead-up to his first cancer diagnosis, he said there were no warning signs to indicate something else was off with his health—until a chance discovery was made during a routine PET scan.

"A couple of months ago, I had a PET scan, and something flared on the scan," he explained. "The doctor said, 'We don't know what it is, but there's something at the base of your tongue.'"

Coulier underwent a "painful" biopsy, which did not initially show any sign of "cancer cells." However, when he had another PET scan a few months later, it revealed that the growth on his tongue and increased in size.

This prompted him to consult an ear, nose and throat oncologist, who performed more scans, as well as a more aggressive biopsy, which was positive for cancerous cells—although Coulier noted that this diagnosis of early stage P16 carcinoma is completely unrelated to his non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Coulier gave credit to his wife, Melissa, explaining how she took charge and "organized (his) entire life, from nutrition to the doctor’s appointments to the pills.

“She’s got stuff color-coded. It’s pretty great,” he said.

Together the pair, who wed in 2014, have been fighting the disease while taking refuge at their lakefront home in St. Clair, where they moved to from Los Angeles in 2019—returning to the town where Coulier was born and raised.

In an interview with Hour Detroit that same year, Coulier revealed that he and his wife had purchased a 5-acre plot of waterfront land in the area, where they were building a custom lake house inspired by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright's designs.

Property records show that the duo purchased a plot of land in the area that same year in what appears to have been an off-market deal. That acreage was last listed for $1,999,000.

"I’ve always been in love with this part of the world," he told the publication. "I find that I’m drawn to Lake St. Clair."

Coulier added that he expected work on the home to be completed by 2020. However, his Instagram account suggests that there have been some delays. Posts shared as recently as October 2023 showed that construction was still being completed on the impressive abode.

However, the actor has taken a key role in leading the build on the property, revealing that he even went back to school to learn the skills needed to carry out work on his future house.

In September 2022, he shared an update with his fans, admitting that the construction had been more "labor intensive" than he'd anticipated.

It appears that the couple initially planned to completely renovate a home they purchased in 2020, "right when COVID hit," Coulier told Closer in November of that year. "It was a very convenient time to be locked in a home. We were tearing down walls and ripping out carpeting and doing construction work."

2020 also marked Coulier's sobriety journey, another hurdle that he credits his wife with helping him to overcome.

Coulier's new home is located not far from where he grew up—and where his brother, Dan, and his father, David, lived until they both passed away, residing in the same home where the actor was born in 1959.

The actor attended high school in the area and initially planned to continue his education there. However, after spending just one year at the University of Michigan, the aspiring comedian dropped out to pursue his Hollywood dream.

He moved to Los Angeles and started performing stand-up in comedy clubs in the 1970s, alongside Robin Williams and Jerry Seinfeld.

His big break came in 1987, with the "Full House" role of Uncle Joey. He recently reprised the beloved part in the Netflix reboot "Fuller House."
