EXCLUSIVE: Ghislaine Maxwell’s $2.4 Million New Hampshire Hideout Finally Snags a Buyer After Nearly a Year on the Market
The enormous New Hampshire estate where Jeffrey Epstein's right-hand woman, Ghislaine Maxwell, was arrested has finally found a buyer—nearly one year after hitting the market.
Maxwell, 64, was apprehended in July 2020 by FBI agents at the property in Bradford, where she is understood to have been in hiding for several months, after they tracked down her location using cell phone records.
Almost five years to the day after she was taken into custody, the sprawling 156-acre property was put on the market for $2.5 million—although that price was lowered to $2.37 million just three months later.
Now, property records show that the seller, who has never come forward publicly, has accepted an offer, with the listing updated to reflect that it is "pending" sale, a status that is used to indicate a deal is in the final stages of being finalized.
It is currently unclear what price has been agreed upon—however, it's likely that any offer close to the latest asking price will result in a significant profit for the seller, who purchased the home for just $1 million in December 2019.
Maxwell is never thought to have owned the property, which is registered to a limited liability company called Granite Realty. That LLC is understood to have close ties to Maxwell's alleged former partner, tech mogul Scott Borgerson, with whom she is said to have been hiding out when she was taken into custody..
Unsurprisingly, the listing for the home made no mention of its infamous former visitor, instead touting the property's many impressive features and describing it as "a hunter, farmer, horse lover, hiker, privacy lover's dream."




"This is truly one of the most remarkable homes on the market," the listing noted. "Set on 156 very private acres with gorgeous views of local hills and distant mountains."
Still, there was no escaping the past.
Soon after the dwelling was put on the market, its ties to Maxwell were revealed, with questions quickly raised about who would profit from its sale—questions that led some real estate experts to warn its sellers could face a steep uphill struggle in their attempt to find a buyer.
The property's listing came amid a renewed public outcry over Epstein's case—and Maxwell's role in his crimes—with President Donald Trump's administration facing increasing pressure to release the trove of files collected during the investigation into the financier's sex crimes.
At the same time, Maxwell launched her own appeal in a bid to overturn her own conviction, which was ultimately turned down by the Supreme Court, meaning her only hope of being released from prison, where she is currently serving a 20-year sentence, would be to secure clemency from Trump.
Maxwell's relationship with Epstein was also thrust back into the spotlight as a result of the release of the so-called Epstein files, which contained a tranche of emails featuring intimate details about their bond—including communications about a potential "shared fertility procedure."
The emails also called into question Maxwell's repeated claims that she drastically distanced herself from Epstein in the early 2000s—a claim that she is understood to have doubled down on as recently as August, when she spent nine hours being interviewed by a top Justice Department official.
As a result of the renewed interest in Epstein's case, the property's listing sparked multiple headlines, with dozens of news outlets highlighting its close ties to Maxwell and her arrest.




And while some say there is no such thing as bad press, real estate experts told Realtor.com® that the frenzy of interest in the home's ties to Maxwell would likely create a significant hurdle in its ability to find a buyer.
"This listing is what’s known as a 'precarious professional situation,'" seasoned real estate agent Cara Ameer, with Coldwell Banker, explained in November.
Ameer added that, while the home's listing made no mention of Maxwell, any potential buyers should have been informed about the home's history before they made an offer, particularly because its links to the sex trafficker could impede their ability to sell it in the future.
"While the listing does not make mention of this property’s history in the description, a buyer and their agent should be told about it before they see it and potentially make an offer because it could affect their feelings about the home," she noted.
"A buyer may not initially realize the situation when this property initially crosses their path by searching online. Upon finding out, the negative publicity surrounding Ghislaine Maxwell could absolutely impact the marketability of the home."
Additionally, Ameer pointed out that the property's ties to Maxwell could well create a moral complication for prospective buyers.
"It’s not famous in a good way. The backstory may be enough to quash any interest from a buyer, let alone not wanting to give their money to Maxwell or anyone connected to her by buying the home," she said.
"There may be people who feel morally opposed to having anything to do with this property because of Maxwell’s prior actions, particularly that this home was used as a hiding place before she was arrested.
"The negative publicity surrounding this property is going to be difficult to overcome, no matter what. Finding that one buyer who may not care will be difficult, [particularly if] the proceeds of the home are used to support the defense of someone associated with such awful behavior involving young girls."




The property includes two dwellings: a timber-framed main house and a detached barn, each with two bedrooms.
"The main home consists of a gorgeous Great Room with stunning fieldstone fireplace as the focal point, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a stone patio and views, and on the other side a covered porch with views of feature gardens with waterfall and pond," the listing notes.
In addition, the main house features a spacious eat-in kitchen, a sunroom with a wood-burning stove, and a dining space that is part of the open-concept living area.
However, it is the views that are considered the home's crown jewel, with the description adding that each of the spaces has "360-degree views of the beauty of nature."
"To complete this amazing offering is a workshop, full equipment garage, lovely fields, walking trails and surrounded by conservation land," the description concludes.
It is not known how long Maxwell had been living in the dwelling before her arrest. She was charged with six federal counts: sex trafficking of a minor, enticing a minor to travel to engage in criminal sexual activity, transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and three counts of conspiracy.
She pleaded not guilty to all charges during her December 2021 trial but was convicted on five of the counts, with a jury opting to acquit her on the charge of enticing a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts.
Maxwell's exact fortune at the time of her arrest was unknown, with prosecutors admitting that "her numerous accounts and substantial money movements render her total financial picture opaque and indeterminate."
She had previously owned a property in New York City that was sold in 2016, long before her arrest. Other details about her potential real estate holdings in other locations and countries have never been reported.
