This $7 Million Art Deco Miami Beach Penthouse Features Hand-Painted Murals and a Massive Private Rooftop

by Hannah Chambers

Miami Beach is known for its vibrant culture and stunning art deco architecture. Now, a striking penthouse that channels everything the coastal resort town has to offer has hit the market for $6.99 million.

Casa Mar, owned by Ximena Caminos—a co-founder of Faena Art—is an oceanfront abode spanning 3,357 square feet. While the unit is sizable on its own, it more than doubles its living space with a sprawling 3,500-square-foot private rooftop that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

The four-bedroom residence was designed by Caminos, who is also an artist and environmental activist whose work blends the worlds of public art and marine conservation.

Architectural consulting was completed by Galia Solomonoff, founder of the New York–based Solomonoff Architecture Studio. The interiors are striking, with murals by Argentine artist Augusto Falopapas paired with a champagne-mirrored ceiling, white marble floors, and beautiful rose-gold kitchen hardware.

The listing is held by Carl Gambino and Andrew Kardonski of the Gambino Group at Compass.

The home is located inside The Caribbean, a 1941 art deco building designed by L. Murray Dixon.

Murray is considered to be one of the most influential and prolific architects of the time and region, through his work in the 1920s through the 1940s in South Florida.

The building offers direct beach access, as well as beach and pool service with an infinity pool, spa, and cabanas. The location is prime—it’s situated along Miami Beach’s iconic Millionaires Row, with proximity to the Faena District, the Miami Beach EDITION, and Soho Beach House.

Upon entering the home, visitors step into a foyer space adorned with colorful floral walls. In-unit laundry, ample storage, and a funky powder room are located here, as well.

Two of the home's bedrooms are accessible by this front hallway, and each has access to a private balcony. The larger of the pair boasts a large en suite bathroom, which includes a walk-in closet.

Down the hall is the heart of the home: an open-concept space that blends the kitchen, living room, and dining area. With eclectic decor and expansive windows providing ocean views, the space is warm, lively, and one of a kind.

The artful design of the kitchen nearly conceals its functionality: Unique cabinetry with open storage features space to display a personal art collection, and the mirrored backsplash is an unusual contrast against the pink onyx countertops.

The primary suite is located in the southeast corner of the penthouse and includes two massive walk-in closets and a spa-inspired double-vanity bathroom with a soaking tub.

With tall ceilings and balcony access, the suite truly feels like part of the Miami Beach landscape.

The fourth and final bedroom is adjacent to the primary suite and includes a playful statement wall of birds, branches, and butterflies. While it doesn’t have a dedicated bathroom of its own, there are two gorgeous facilities just steps away.

This part of the home also includes a cozy family room and a wet bar, ideal for entertaining or a comfortable night in.

The rooftop—accessible by the property’s main elevator, which opens just a few feet from the private terrace—is truly a sight to be seen with its panoramic views. It’s also well-suited for hosting, as it’s fitted with a kitchen, a stone bar, a pergola, and dedicated entertaining areas.
