How to Plan an Ultra-Spooky Halloween Horror Nights 2026 Date Night

In Orlando the haunting season tends to start a little early, and this year is no exception! The spooks at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) 35 kick off on select nights from August 28 – November 1, 2026!

The spooky Halloween season begins early around here, and this year is another special moment for Halloween Horror Nights.

Note: Admission to Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights is NOT included with regular park admission. You will need a separate event ticket in order to attend. Also, parking is NOT free until after 10pm, so be prepared to pay full price.

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 Houses

It's time! This year features 10 total houses, so get ready for lots and lots of frights!

Almost all of this year's Halloween Horror Nights houses have been announced, with the exception of one we are still waiting for details on.

2026 Halloween Horror Nights Scare Zones

• Sideshow of Decay: In the carnival junkyard, Cindy Caine has opened a portal where decayed nightmares from Halloween Horror Nights past are back to haunt you.
• Infernal Carnival of Nightmares: Jack and Dr. Oddfellow invite you to step right up and see what horrors hide in every shadow at a sinister spectacle decades in the making.
• Mel's Die-In Zombies: Zombie carhops have swarmed Mel’s Die-In, and they aren’t just here for the burgers.

• Club Horror: The streets of San Francisco have been transformed into Club Horror,
where the DJ’s undead but the vibe is alive and well.

Is the low-scare option returning for 2026?

We are still waiting to see if the Deathly Afraid Necklace will be returning this year.

Last year, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort added a new option for those who want fewer scares while walking around the park and through the scare zones.

The Deathly Afraid Necklace was purchasable for $20 plus tax, and lets the scare zone creatures know you didn't want to be scared while you're wearing it. However, a completely scare-free experience wasn't guaranteed, and this necklace did not work in the haunted houses.

Stranger Things 5

It's Hawkins' Last Stand, and this may be the last time we ever see a Stranger Things-themed house since the show has officially ended!

The Upside Down is invading Hawkins, and this time no one’s safe. In this haunted house based on the final season of Stranger Things, join the gang in Hawkins for one last adventure as you try to survive Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer. Will you defeat Vecna once and for all?

Sinners

Take a Bite Out of the Award-Winning Original Horror film from 2025.

In 1930s Mississippi, libations flow freely and guitar screams fill the air at the Smokestack Twins’ juke joint. But the blues become red when Remmick’s troop of bloodthirsty vampires crash the party—and test blood’s true bonds—as you brave this terrifying haunted house based on the award-winning original horror film, Sinners.

Evil Dead Burn

Evil Comes Home with Evil Dead Burn from the 2026 movie release.

The Book of the Dead has been reopened, and now an infernal force consumes a family home. In this haunted house based on the new film, Evil Dead Burn, dodge possessed Deadites hell-bent on bloodshed, and encounter not just the root of evil, but the whole family tree.

Halloween Horror Nights LIVE ENTERTAINMENT for 2026

This year is PACKED with live entertainment at Halloween Horror Nights! The return of the lagoon show, a new Nightmare Fuel tale, and two new entertainment zones!

• A Rockin’ Stranger Things Rewind: The music. The monsters. The memories. In this show, tune in to a special WSQK broadcast and relive five epic seasons of Stranger Things.
• Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir – A new nightmare begins, where you embark on a dark musical journey and resist temptation as death-defying stunts lure you deeper into a vampire-ridden metropolis.
• Mel's Die-In Zombies – entertainment zone with zombie carhops

How to save time at Halloween Horror Nights

The lines for the most popular Universal Orlando HHN houses can get as long as three hours, with average wait times around at least an hour or more for popular houses based on movies and TV shows. Alternatively, the original concept houses are full of detail and unique experiences, and tend to have lower wait times—not a bad Halloween Horror Nights shortcut!

Halloween Horror Nights officially kicks off at 6 p.m. on most nights and generally runs until 1 a.m.

Take breaks, enjoy the experience, and show those scary fiends they are no match for the power of love!

JUST ANNOUNCED! Premium Scream Night on August 27 and October 19, 2026!

EARLY ADMISSION

You can purchase the Scream Early ticket for early access! Start the thrills early at Universal Studios Florida at 2 p.m. The cost is $70+ per person depending on the evening.

Ticket includes access to park attractions and select Haunted Houses starting at 2 pm (Minimum of 3 houses at the discretion of Universal Orlando). Admission to the 2026 Halloween Horror Nights event is not included. A separate Halloween Horror Nights event admission ticket is required and must be valid for the same calendar day as the Scream Early Ticket. 

To use the early access, you must arrive at Universal Studios Florida before 5 p.m. and present proof of a valid 2026 Halloween Horror Nights Event ticket at the time of redemption. Guests who arrive at Universal Studios after 5 pm forfeit their Scream Early Ticket.

2026 Frequent Fear Passes

There are three different ticket options if you're planning to experience HHN on more than one or two nights, and depending on when you go, these passes could end up saving you money in the long run; you just have to be sure to pay attention to the available dates when booking the different types of tickets.

• Halloween Horror Nights Rush of Fear Pass: Admission for up to the first 18 nights, valid Aug. 28, 29, 30, Sept. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20.
• Halloween Horror Nights Frequent Fear Pass: Admission for up to 31 nights, valid Aug. 28, 29, 30, Sept. 2, 3, 6, 9, 10, 13, 16, 17, 20, 23, 24, 27, 30, Oct. 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 21, 22, 25, 28, 29, Nov. 1
• Halloween Horror Nights Frequent Fear Plus Pass: Admission for up to 41 nights, valid Aug. 28, 29, 30, Sept. 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24, 25, 27, 30, Oct. 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 21, 22, 23, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, Nov. 1

2026 EXPRESS PASSES

The alternative to early admission is the Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass—and it is going to cost extra. The prices start at $199.99. If you choose to go on a peak night, some wait times can be as long as 2 hours or more for the most popular houses.

The question always is “is it worth it?” And there’s no easy answer to that. Will you get through more houses in less time? Yes. Will it eliminate all waits at all the houses completely? Not so much. An Express Pass for Halloween Horror Nights 2026 does not guarantee you won’t have to wait in line.

Pro-tip: Halloween Horror Night Express Passes do sell out on peak nights, including weekends and dates in mid to late October, so make your decision about purchasing Halloween Horror Night Express Passes well in advance.

2026 GUIDED TOURS

If you're able to splurge, Universal offers a special R.I.P. Tour where you'll join fellow fans on a guided VIP tour of Halloween Horror Nights 2026. The tour includes VIP entry to all houses along with other perks. R.I.P. tours begin at $299.99/person and require separate event admission.

If you can swing it, this is a pricey but fun way to ensure you won't have to wait in line and will be able to see all of the houses.

VISIT ON A WEEKNIGHT

I recommend visiting Halloween Horror Nights on a non-peak night (such as a weeknight in September or early October) and that you take advantage of early admission if eligible. It is also recommended that you enjoy the scare zones and shows and a ride or two to get the full value of your event ticket.

Fuel up on signature HHN food & drink

Over the years, the good people at Universal Orlando have learned that special events require special food and drinks. The Halloween Horror Night food and beverage should not be overlooked. There are multiple food and beverage kiosks throughout the park.

Can't wait to try? 2026's menu is not yet released, but you can get an idea of the type of offers based on last year's Halloween Horror Nights Food and Drinks.

Ride some Horror Nights rides

Take a break from the horror to ride some rides. Some of Universal Studios' top attractions are open during HHN. This is a great way to experience rides with very low wait times and without having to pay regular park admission.

The following four rides are usually open during Halloween Horror Nights:

• Revenge of the Mummy
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley (Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts)
• Men In Black Alien Attack
• More announcements to come…

Also, while you're enjoying Diagon Alley, keep an eye out for some dark characters. An ominous presence returns to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort this fall as Death Eaters appear for the first time ever in Diagon Alley on select dates.

OTHER HELPFUL HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS TIPS

Talk about your HHN comfort level

Perhaps one of you is more enthusiastic about being scared. Perhaps you're both a little hesitant. Or maybe you're both brave and ready to face the Halloween Horror Night scare zones and dark, loud houses together. Whatever your tolerance level for scary stuff may be, it is best to get it out in the open upfront. This way you're both on the same page and prepared to be supportive of each other if needed.

It is fun to push yourself and conquer your fears, but you also don't want to end up making each other uncomfortable without realizing it. The best way to have a date night at Halloween Horror Nights is to be supportive and understanding of each other’s comfort levels.

Map it out

Halloween Horror Nights is a different experience and layout even if you've been to Universal Studios. In order to maximize your time, it is best to review the official Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights map – which is available to view on the Halloween Horror Nights ABOUT page.

Take note of the location of your must-see houses and scare zones. Start in the back of the park and work your way back to the front.

Make it a getaway

Consider making your trip to HHN an overnight getaway. Universal Orlando has a great variety of resorts that are perfect for couples. Last year, all eight of Universal Orlando’s hotels offered exclusive activations and experiences for hotel guests inspired by HHN.

Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort usually has lots of photo opportunities and some decorations, including a pop-up that is open from 2pm-10pm during Halloween Horror Nights, and is free for Universal Orlando hotel guests. Guests must show their room key. Cabana Bay guests will receive priority access, and guests staying at other Universal Orlando hotels will wait in a standby line.
