Travis and Jason Kelce’s Mom Donna Reveals Real Reason for Florida Condo Renovations—as They Mock Her Over Plans To Create ‘Gilded Palace’
NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce have poked fun at their mother, Donna, and the public furor over news that the 73-year-old is renovating her Florida condo, joking that the construction is the "most important news" to come out of their family in the past week.
Jason, 38, and Travis, 36, welcomed their mother on the latest episode of their podcast, "New Heights," to discuss the viral media storm that erupted when TMZ revealed that Donna is carrying out construction at her Orlando property.
The outlet published a story last week in which it stated that Donna would be replacing nine windows and six doors at the two-bedroom unit, adding that she has hired a local company to carry out the work.
Donna, who has become something of a celebrity in her own right, has owned the 1,434-square-foot home for nearly seven years, having snapped it up for the relatively low price of $355,000 in 2019, records show.
Addressing the furor surrounding the renovations, Travis—who revealed his own headline-grabbing news this week when he re-signed with the Kansas City Chiefs—and Jason joked to their listeners: "Let's talk about the most important news out of the Kelce family this week. We wanted to break this news on the show, but reports have already started to leak out."
"Donna Kelce is remodeling her modest Florida home! Let's give it up for Donna!" Jason added.
Travis then teased that he was hurt his mother had not asked him to help out with the work.

"I told her if she needed me to screw some door hinges in, I could've f---ing done it for her," Travis added.
The siblings then brought Donna in to share her thoughts on the media response to her renovation plans—with the NFL matriarch admitting that she had been stunned by the attention it received.
"Even TMZ sent me a text and said, 'Can you be honest, it's really funny!' I'm like ... it's so stupid!" she said, before attempting to play down the work she's having done.
"All they're doing is, people are coming to put in my windows on Monday," she continued. "You know my whole apartment is all windows. It's windows all the way around."
Still, Jason couldn't help but get in another joke, asking: "Are you going to bulletproof?"
Undeterred, Donna continued by explaining that the unseasonably cold weather in Orlando had motivated her to replace the existing window designs, because they were "cheap" and outdated, providing little protection against the chill.
"This year, it got so cold down here—it was in the 30s—and I literally had sweat coming down the windows and pools of water in my living room because it couldn't handle it. These are cheap windows that were put in 20 years ago," she shared.
Jason then called out TMZ's description of Donna's property as a "modest home," joking that she appears to have plans to turn it into a much swankier abode.
"Well, I just wanted to say, 'Mom, they said "modest home," and it just feels like you're turning this place into a bit of a gilded palace,'" he said.

It's unclear whether Donna will continue to live in the home while the work is being carried out, having relocated to Florida full time not long after she purchased the property.
Property records show that a notice of commencement for the work was filed in February. It is not known whether the construction has been completed. Those documents note that the property is registered under three names: Donna, Travis, and Jason, indicating that she plans to leave the dwelling to her two sons.
The home is located in the Baldwin Park neighborhood, which was formerly a Naval Training Center.
Now, the area offers a much more peaceful environment, despite being situated mere miles away from downtown Orlando and Disney World.
The property was built in 2005 and features a wraparound balcony. The floor plan includes a home office, a library, a den, and even a workout room.
The brothers' comment on their mom's renovation project comes just after it was confirmed that Travis would be returning to the Chiefs on a one-year deal.
Uncertainty loomed for months over the 36-year-old's future in the NFL, with many suggesting that he was getting set to retire when his previous contract with the Chiefs ended on March 11, months before his wedding to Taylor Swift is reported to be taking place.
Reports then emerged that Travis would return to the NFL but that he was in active discussions with other teams—rumors he has now put to rest by confirming that he has signed a new deal with the Chiefs, where he has played for the past 13 seasons.
He announced the news on an Instagram post shared by the account for his podcast, "New Heights," which he hosts with Jason.
In an animated video shared on the platform, Travis announced his comeback by quoting a famous line from the film "John Wick."
"People keep asking if I'm back, and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back," he said in the clip.
The post was captioned, "He's back!!! Travis Kelce is back with the Chiefs for year 14."
According to ESPN, the athlete, who got engaged to Swift, 36, in August 2025, will return to the Chiefs on a one-year contract—suggesting that he is eager for one more shot at Super Bowl glory after the team's incredibly disappointing 2025 season, which saw them miss out on a playoff spot for the first time in years.
The outlet stated that Travis made his decision to return to the Chiefs before the NFL's free agency window, which started on March 9. He is said to have informed the team of his decision as free agency kicked off.

His contract is said to be worth $12 million but carries a maximum value of $15 million, according to ESPN expert Adam Schefter.
During an appearance on Pat McAfee's eponymous talk show on Tuesday, Travis opened up about his decision to return to the NFL. He admitted that he had been considering retirement, explaining that he felt the need to "take a step back" before committing to another season.
He then praised Swift for helping to give him the motivation he needed to return to the NFL.
"We share the same love for what we do, and we've had this ... desire. I'm still in love with this game," he said.
Travis added that watching his partner "keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding new melodies ... and on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does" helped to motivate him to continue chasing his own dreams.
"Yeah, of course that's motivating," he continued. "That's motivating for anyone to see, let alone my fiancée, and knowing that I'm going through something where I'm trying to figure out what exactly the future holds for me, something like that definitely motivates me to say, 'You know what, I'm not done either.'"
As well as returning to the Chiefs' stadium, this also means that Travis is committing to another year of living at his palatial Leawood, KS, mansion, which he purchased for $6 million in November 2023. He has since made numerous updates to the mansion, including the addition of a man cave, which he began working on in October 2024.
Both Swift and Travis likely have very emotional ties to the Kansas dwelling—which is where the NFL star chose to pop the question over the summer, after turning his backyard into a floral wonderland to surprise the singer.
